Yes, these are member only facilities. But, it is neither hard nor expensive to join the Elks and they are a very philanthropic organization as well as good folks and good fun. I highly recommend joining even for those who hate joining anything.

Looks pretty difficult to me. If I understand it, you have to have 2 (or 3?) member sponsors
and fill out an application and go through a committee interview and attend an indoctrination,
plus other requirements and duties:
