Hi Carey,
Thanks for the nice note! Gas prices vary depending on whether you are in a town or in the wilderness along the highway. Lowest so far has been just under $1 Canadian per liter to $1.59 for regular and about .20 to .30 more for premium. The exchange rate has been 0.8 to 1 so far. Some pumps and station owners say there is no ethanol in any of the grades (Petro Canada) while others say 15% and still others have no idea. Some pumps show "may be up to 10% ethanol" in The lower and mid grades while the premium shows none so it is a bit of a crap shoot. We use Petro Canada when we can. I fill up in each major town if we have driven 200 miles and at 200 or so miles at road side add enough to get to the next town. The last thing I want is to be short on gas and need the generator so am more conservative than many others might be.
One benefit from areas where the roads are rough is it forces you to drive more slowly. Our experience is mileage changes by about 0.5 mpg for every 5 mph change in average speed. Most days average around 50 to 55 for us. Some people drive much faster, but their cars must really take a beating.

Jerry,
Sounds like you are doing great up there. What are the gas prices this year? I'm wanting someday to make the same trip but must apparently get out
of the driveway. Working around to it, but now working on the toad.
Happy you got rid of that tick, too. The ticks around here in Texas can carry Lyme disease. Not a good thing to have.
Just wanted to send greetings from the lower 48.
Carey
