I had to remove photos to post here. If you're interested in the photos. Let me know. Bob Dunahugh

There are 4 wires that run from your interior remote start switch. To the generator. They're red, white, blue, and green. These wires connect to 4 white wires that come out of the generator. These white wires are labeled with black lettering on these wires. That lettering is very small, and hard to read. There are 4 scotchlok wire connectors that connect these wires in what I consider to be a hazardous area under the generator. These wires then lay in the main coach frame C channel on the left side. As they go to the interior start switch. The first photo shows the black channel of the frame with the protective plastic tubing that hole the wires from the two holding tanks. And one for the 4 generator wires. ( the large black wire is a battery cable ) Photo 2 is a 4 pin connector with waterproof shrink tube wire connectors installed. 3, and 5 show all connections completed. 4 show the original scotchlok connectors. The green tubing is fairly simple to install. And if you're replacing your rubber gas hoses. That makes both task simpler to do.Bob Dunahugh Proud member of GMCMI78 RoyaleE-mail Yenko108@hotmail.com

Just want to point out that Bob is describing the setup for a Coachmen Royale and it is not the same as the GM factory built motor homes.

If your Honda generator is compatible with a wireless remote, the hard wired factory connection to the generator can interface these 4 wires so you can use your interior switch to start and stop your Honda generator (works with my EU6500is). The indicator light on the switch will not work, since you have to reverse polarity. I can send details if anyone is interested, pm me. I do not have an hour meter, but the leads probably need to be reversed as well.

When installing the remote wiring for my Honda EV install, I did not trust the installed remote wiring, mainly due to it's gauge. Looked like old CAT cable was used.
For replacement, I used the typical 4-wire trailer light wire package from HF. Made a color matching truth table to keep it straight. I used the molded ends to form a quick disconnect, in case I ever need to remove the Honda for any reason. Cheap and works well. The molded wire made stringing it easy.

Thanks Emery for pointing that out on this Restoration posting. Most have been general enough to cover all GMC's. But then there's ones like this. I need to make note of this in future post. But even with this one. It gives an idea of how to protect our 40 some year old wiring. Don't think GM planned to have these GMC's out there this long. It just points out what a great job GM did back then. Bob Dunahugh

Sean -

I see that the EU6500is has been replaced with the EU700is. They are a
bit pricey, but clearly the best in their class.

How did you get this in the generator pod? Did you strip out the
engine of the generator to make it fit?

I see the measurements are 33.4" x 27.6" x 28.4" Those measurements
seem bigger than the size of the generator compartment, but I didn't
go out and check.

My installed Honda is the much loved and dearly departed from the U.S market, ev6010. Many have been easly installed in the 26' genset bay. You might be able to install one of the newer ones if you disassembled it into it' s sub components. Kills the warranty and cooling might be difficult.
