I just finished watching an Australian football game. They did not do too bad considering that they had to run around in those magnetic shoes to keep from falling off of the bottom of the earth. There must be a magnet n the ball also.
I have a few suggestion and observations. If they threw the ball overhand they probably would be more accurate and could throw it farther. Also when throwing the ball in bounds it helps if you face your target rather than throwing it backwards over you shoulder or head.
I also have never seen anyone dribble a football before.
I guess the most irritating thing was listening to the commentators' abomination of the English language. There was also someone off camera blowing a whistle every 5 to 10 seconds. Between the two, it was irritating enough that I had to turn the sound off on the TV to finish watching the game.
Anyone ever seen Australian women's netball? That is another game that could use some improvements like a backboard on the hoop or dribbling the ball occasionally.
I guess I'll go fix the heater in my Blazer or maybe the air compressor in my garage.

Hi ken I think you were watching a game of Aussie Rules it was one of the umpires throwing the ball in from the boundary and he does it backwards so as to make it an even contest. When running with the ball the ball must touch the ground approximately every 15 metres hence the dribbling. I find it an interesting game to watch live where you can see the whole field and how all players interact whereas on TV you miss a lot. Where I live Queensland it is not the dominant code and is sometimes referred to as aerial ping pong. Here we play rugby league.

Remember, Australia was initially populated by convicts, and people who lived off the (fairly inhospitable) land since forever. Both groups were/are tough SOBs. You'd expect their sports to be kind of rough.

Ken is absolutely about right about the physics of gravity down under in Australia. Magnetic everything is a must down there.
It is a common known fact that even to enjoy your favorite beer there, you must smack the bloke sitting next to you in the head with your beer bottle and drink it through the bottom of the bottle so it doesn't flow out the top.
Now we have our problems up here in the states with gravity also. After 15 years of experimenting, I have come to the conclusion that Houston also has no gravity. It sucks..... Just kidding!!

After seeing the high Draft pick college quarterback smoking dope through
a gas mask on TV yesterday, I would recruit any international rugby,
soccer, or Aussie rules player I could find. As compared to the kinds of
prospects that college football programs are turning out, they would have
to be better. I wouldn't want him driving my GMC.

Hupy, after seeing that crap, I remember my days as Chief Engineer for WTBC in Tuscaloosa, in the heyday of The Bear. His kids ran the gamut from dhu-h-h-h to near genius, the common denominator being they played football well. And, anytime they appeared in public they were well spoken, polite, and wore a sport jacket and necktie. Bryant had three more behind each of them in case they didn't like his rules.

The game I was watching was Adelaide vs. Richmond. I know where Adelaide is in South Australia. I think Richmond is in NSW near Melborne.
They really need to get rid of that guy with the whistle. It was really annoying every 5 to 10 seconds. It took a while to figure out most of the rules.
Rugby is a different story.
I originally made the post to pull Rob's chain. It did not work. Rob says he does not need magnetic shoes due to his magnetic personality.
