Does anyone know what is a good way to repair our front wheel well liners?
The lip on our left front fender liner where the clip nuts slip over has two broken positions, one
with a quarter-size chunk missing; another is cracked and is about to break loose.
What adhesive can be used to repair these front wheel well liners? Epoxy? Something else?
What material are these liners made of?
What material can be used to make doublers to reinforce the lip where the clip nuts slip over, or make a doubler for the entire lip where the lip joins the SMC fender opening flange?
Does anyone have an old front fender liner from which some repair material sections could be
cut; or know of a suitable material from which to make repair sections?
Thanks to all,
Don and Susan Jeffers

i used metal bolted on either side as a reinforcement. I think it was from
from some roof flashing.

What happens to the motor etc. without the protection of the wheel liners when you are driving in the rain or on a muddy back road to a campground?
If no problem, then it sure would make under hood maintenance simpler without the liners.

The outer half of these at least provide some splash protection for the
body sidewall gap, so I haven't had the inner half installed for years.
The engine hasn't gotten any dirtier than with them installed. Nor any
cooler, AFICT. Sort of the best of both worlds.

Isn't ABS a harder plastic than those liners? I thought they were polyethylene from the feel of them, and was sure there is no glue that will stick to them. Perhaps you could use antifreeze/oil jugs as repair material and good contact cement on a clean surface to patch over a crack, but it will still probably require some mechanical fastening to stay on through some flexing. I used the self-stick flashing with the butyl rubber to repair the REAR wheel well on mine where the water heater and wheels broke and wore through it in several places. Cleaned the plastic with Walmart carb cleaner before sticking in on there (on the inside)and it is still stuck to it today, 3 years later. It does not have any structural rigidity, but I never flex those liners to get them out like I frequently do to the front ones.

I used muffler strapping and sandwiched the liner in between and pop
riveted it together.

Don,
Mine have suffered all manner of grief.
Where cracked I patched with 5200 (when integrity important like the rear), flashing and pop-rivets to stabilize the joint.
Where the mounting screws have broken out, I just drill new holes in both and put the PALNUTs and screws back in.
