Just in the case that you might have wondered, it is possible to loose just one volt in a battery connection even at light load.
The somewhat long and strange story.
We are holed up at Camp Wally in Jacksboro TN. We had rain last night. We were parked high enough that I wasn't worried. Later, the inverter that supplies power for the reefer started to scream. Mary shut the reefer down and we finished the sleep.
This morning I set about finding out what sort of damage I had to deal with. The thought of replacing the house bank on the road did not appeal to me one bit. The positive side of that was that today's fuel stop is scheduled at a Costco and maybe there would be good price on GC2s there.
So, I started out with the old 77 (an original Fluke 77) looking at the bank. 12.4 post to post. Go inside and the Trimetric says 11.3 Back out front (it's a 23 and the house bank is in the front) and still tne bank is 12.4... Another check at the side of the boost contactor (solenoid). There I get the same 11.3 I see inside...
Somewhere between one post and the other a volt has disappeared?? The fingertips told me the cable was warm. This is real strange as an old steam engineer, I often can't sense heat asa well as I might. I started to pull on the cable as I though maybe the lug on the end was bad. The lug moved and the wing nut as well. Well - {Expletive Deleted} That was a new one to me. I had checked those went I topped off the cells back in the barn.
So, I got a used pot cleaning pad and cleaned up the terminal, the post and the wingnut. When I went back inside the Trimetric was reporting 12.4, the reefer started and the inverter didn't pitch a bitch. That's a nice fix. I will work on it again when were along side in Dothan.

Glad you found it.
Gotta love it when it's something as simple as a bad connection.
My buddy has been having trouble with his motorhome lately, intermittent not starting. He's been chasing it for months and this weekend I found a dirty ground on the block and all is now well.
