This is just great. Finally I get potable water on board and could check the system, It was good until I pulled the diverter for the shower. There was water coming out of place water has never come out of before. After some search, I discovered that it was coming from behind the water heater. It isn't cracked at the low point Where it would be easy to repair.... Well, we can shower when we get to Dothan.

Has anyone ever replaced line this successfully?

Our coach has a piece of 3/8 soft copper that does this run.
I sure can't glue CPVC back there.
I though about PEX, but the smallest PEX I have ever seen has too large a bend radius.

That, the thermostat (Just failed open), a flaky connection for the Onan, the bad vacuum gauge connection and the blinked out cheapo tach are just regular sort of things. I don't really mind, but I wish the weather had let me sorth this all out before departure.

Just south of Sidney headed for Dothan.

Matt

Not sure about the ends on each side of the copper line you are talking about. But i have had luck replacing old plumbing lines in my 75 palm beach with "faucet lines". From some big box stores such as lhome depot. My toilet feed was the last one i replaced.

Just have to find with right ends. And the length. But maybe you can luck out.

Jon,

Thanks, I already did that under both sinks. One was PO freeze damage the galley was because I changed the tap and couldn't reform the copper to make up.
Unfortunately, this run may be too long a run to do with one and I wouldn't like a joint behind the water heater. I'll keep looking, just because I haven't seen one doesn't mean I can't get one.

You might be able to use a couple of Shark Bite fittings with a new piece of 1/2" copper-IF you can reach it?

If yours is like mine the top fitting screws on and it looks like you could reach it by removing the right bath light fixture.
Maybe you could disconnect both ends and snake it out through the light opening. Or cut it as necessary if you plan to replace it completely.

I can get a picture of what's back there if it would help. I have that panel out now.

What about using the same soft hose with the woven cord like on the exposed side of the shower wand? Easier to snake thru with a bobber or fish tape?

When you pull the right bath light you will see this...

From the other side this...

Maybe these will help.

I was able pull - literally - the leaking copper out in one piece. The place where it had worn against the water heater was evident. 43 years and 160K+ miles of vibration can do that.
I bought a 48" flexible line with compression fitting ends and two compression unions.
The old copper was reused at both ends (not as installed) to get to the best locations for the new couplings. One is behind the after light fixture and the other is under the sink. As easy as it was to fish the new line in between the outside of the head module and the coach side wall, changing it (though I don't expect to) if required should not be difficult.
