The original onan board in my 76 Palm Beach died about 10 years ago. Failure was that it would not energize fuel pump and shutoff solenoid. Worked fine with a jumper. I replaced it with a Dinosaur board which lasted for about 9 years then failed. I used it with jumper wire for a few months and then bought another board from Jim K.

That board lasted a few short months with minimal use and then failed. Jim K. was kind enough to replace it under warranty.

Latest board has now failed after less than 2 months and a dozen starts.

All boards failed in same manner-fuel pump won't run without jumper.

Any ideas as to the cause of new board failures?

My 76 Eleganza Onan is still doing fine with the 40 year old original board.

Thanks.

Is your fuel pump stock?
I would run it inline with an amp meter and see what kind of power it's pulling.
My guess is that the pump has some sort of fault and is pulling too much current, effectively burning out the circuit board over time.

Just a guess of course, but it makes sense in my head! Very Happy

Jump from 9-5 and see if the pump runs.

Shoot, If I jumped for 10 minutes my pump would quit, much less from 9-5.

I would call Dinosaur direct and ask them for help. Jim K. Is great for warranting things but in this case Dinosaur tech support ought to get involved. 4 or 5 years ago George Z. had a similar type of problem and Dinosaur built him a modified board to take care of his issue.

The problem with my trying to trouble shoot their board is that we do not have a diagram of their board, so all we can do is check inputs and outputs which are identical to an OEM Onan board. Anything internal to the board is a different issue.

My first guess is a over draw by something on the Onan, but there is a 5 amp fuse on the board that should blow in the case of an external to the board short somewhere. I assume that you have checked that fuse.

Keep in mind that the same circuit feeds the fuel pump, fuel solenoid, and ignition ignition. The single fuse feeds all of that plus the choke.

I'm sorry I'm not much more help but my Dinosaur board experience has only been that you install one and the generator runs. I have never had to de-bug or trouble shoot a defective one.
