I've posted this before but can't recall if anyone responded to it at that time. I replaced my steering box with a rebuilt from a reputable GMC vendor about 4 years ago. Drove it for about 6 months and still just didn't feel right, bit the bullet and broke the seals on it and did my own torque setting and centering using all the resources I could find for good directions. Found that from stop to stop the center the flat on the shaft is parallel with the machine surfaces, but the center of the high torque readings is at 11:00 if the machine surfaces are at 12:00. Been driving it with my straight ahead at 11:00 since then, Couldn't leave well enough alone and it's something I can check and cost noting but fluid, so I pulled it and checked it for proper torque and the centers are where they the first time I set it(still oddball). Any thoughts on which center should use for straight ahead, or why the 2 centers conflict each other. I still think the hardest part of centering a gear box is refilling the fluid. As always THANKS!
