Nancy,
Most people shoot pictures at too high a resolution and then create pictures that are 1.0 to 2 meg in size which is nice if your going to do photoshop or other program but eats up too much storage space on your iPad or I-phone or other device. I typically shoot with a 640 X 480 resolution which is really good for sending images as email attachments or jump up one range to 1600 X 1200 resolution. Everything that I have up loaded to the GMC photo site has been using the 640 X 480 resolution. What I am trying to say that more is not necessary better. Just look at some of my photo albums, they are all crisp and clear.

IMO - 640x480 isn't big enough to give enough detail in a lot of cases. The only real benefit of using 640x480 is the extremely small file size.

I lied, this one album is 1280 X 960 and was shot by a professional Photog at the last Dothan rally.

and

as a 640 by 480 resolution
