It’s been a long time since I checked into this list, but some of you may recall the Engine of Mischief. It’s a 1976 Eleganza that was completely re-done by Jim Bounds in 2002. We haven’t used it in a few years, and it’s time to let her go.
The Engine has been in storage in Portland, OR. We’re now living in Seattle, and haven’t visited in a while, but are planning to make a trip down in the next couple of weeks to take stock of the situation and clean her up for sale.
I’m putting the call out to any Cascaders who’d like to stop by on that date (as yet unchosen) and help us make that assessment. At the very least, we’re expecting she’s gonna be full of mice and wasps, batteries dead, all tires needing replaced, and the usual stuff that happens when you let a coach sit too long. Known mechanical issues beyond that include one bogie that needs replacing (that we know of), a macerator that needs attention, and some funky stuff with the brake lines.
Other than that, she was a great restoration, with a newly-rebuilt 454, aluminum wheels, and lots of custom extras inside. It would be great to get her into the hands of someone who’d get her back out on the road. Some photos of the restoration here:

Sara, the 455 cubic engine made by Oldsmobile is the engine that it was built with. A conversion to a Chevrolet 454 cubic inch engine is somewhat less desirable. Have one of theCascaders take a look and post what's actually there. The 454 CID is called a 'Tonowanda Turd' because it isn't/wasn't the most reliable thing GM ever built. A 454 would be an engine swap, meaning there will be some several non-standard parts in the coach. Additionally, some folks - myself included - feel the 454 is not as well built or reliable as the original engine. Consequently, it's important to know which engine is in the coach.
There is no link showing up in the Forum posts.

Yeah, I know — and I knew all about it once upon a time, but it’s been a decade since I had to know it, so it’s fallen off the brain stack. (It’s all been replaced with info about Lycoming aircraft engines, because my RVs of choice these days come with wings.)
It’s a stock engine, so it’s probably the Olds. The first one was reliable as rain until it threw a rod going over the pass into Jackson Hole. The shop in Idaho Falls swapped it out for a rebuild. Wasn’t the 455 a really popular stock car racing engine at one point? If it was, that’s the one we have, because we bought the rebuilt one from a shop that catered to that market.

Unfortunately, no.
Keep the questions coming. This is the kind of stuff we’re going to try to get answered when we go check it out. We’re not inclined to fix it up much before selling it; but the next owner should know as much as possible about what s/he is getting into.
Certainly, it’s a better bet than starting with an original coach. There’s a lot of good stuff on board, some of which would be expensive to add. But there’s going to be 10 years of parked-coach issues, too.

Wild guess:
new tires ~~$900
New batteries - depending on house setup - 500
drop tanks, clean, replace all hoses - $500 (?)
All engine vacuum lines and cooling hoses $200
brake lines, proportioning valve,wheel cylinders, calipers 1,000
All belts 100
Oil and filter 30
trans filter, fluid, gasket 100
So, ~~ $3 Large to make it run and stop assuming the internals are good. At which point it could go home and begin fixing/replacing whatever ten years of weather has bothered. Somebody on the Left Coast needs to pick it up and rehab it to the condition it was in when it was parked.

Which makes it worthwhile to do brakes, fluids, tanks, filters, hoses. Less investment there than the value increase of the coach. If it has leaked rain, however, all bets are off, cos all that beautiful woodwork has to come out for floor replacement.

You’ve assessed the situation pretty much the way we have. It was a $100K rehab back in the day. Most of that goodness is still there, but it’s going to take a bit of investment in time and money to bring her back.
We’re not hoping to get back even a small fraction of that, so even insane offers will be at least momentarily entertained. It’s going to be a great deal for the right buyer.
