We have a '77 GMC Kingsley and had the interior re-done, but needs some mechanical repair work done - she needs a full servicing so she is safe and road-ready...
Looking for recommendations for someone/someplace that does old GMC RV rebuilds? In Texas, preferred....

Hi Katie,

Great to see another Austinite on the list. I recommend Don Virta . He is an old school mechanic with a shop in Cedar Park. He owns a couple of these and has a couple of others at his shop. I've used him for a couple of projects and have been very happy with his work and rates. His mob# is in the 512 and is nine two I eight 1 four 2.

Hey! Thanks, Tim. I been needing to know where to send folks down that
way. I'll add him to the preferred service provider list on bdub.net.

I'd like to know if there is a shop in the OKC area capable of doing an engine swap competently!

I would not dare to drive my coach out of the OKC area.

Thanks, Tim. We are glad to know there's someone who knows GMCs near us.

Bob used to do all his own work, but now we need help.

Good luck Kate.

Billy you might already have Don in the list of "providers". I think that is where I found out about him. He has the bearing tool as well. He did my front and rear bearings, re-bushed the control arms (with the one offset setup) and changed the lower ball joints. I just went to Florida and back steering with 1 finger the whole way.

Like a lot of people these days, he doesn't always get to his voice mail. So if you call and don't reach him send a text (mention the GMC, he likes working on them).

He wasn't but is now. I spoke with him. Sounds like a great GMCer. Just
not enough room!

Thanks
