I was looking for someplace to store our GMC. Preferably close to our abode. I found plenty of RV storage places but they won't take anything older than 1985. I asked why the arbitrary year of 1985 and was told it had to do with the State of California's asbestos laws. If a pre-85 RV is abandoned in storage, the state requires asbestos abatement before it can be sent to a wrecking yard.

Now, I found a great place to store my coach and it worked out best after all but...

I guess the topic begs the question; are GMC motorhomes known to contain asbestos?

Only in Kalifornia.

Actually some rear brake shoes are asbestos but do not tell the Kalifornia asbestos police.

Does the original furnace use asbestos sheeting as a heat shield somewhere
in it?

The outlet duct on the Sol-Aire furnace looks like it has foil covered corrugated asbestos insulation.
Not sure if it is.

I have done a total rebuilt of my coach. Maybe the original brake shoes may have asbestos,
but if they have been replaced with recent shoes, then it wont have any, because I did not find any anywhere else on the coach.

A PO on some mod, or upfitter could have introduced some in some part of there doing.

Just my knowledge
