Our Glenbrook has the original step that has the fold up in the middle. I
feel very comfortable with the step when it is dry. I am seeing a lot of
coaches on Youtube that have the carpet segment type of step cover. But
none of them are GMC's, or even GMC types of steps. They are often the
kind that electrically go up/down/in/out with the push of a button. What
is your experience with the original steps? Does it get slippery when
wet? Is there a benefit to putting a carpet piece on it either for safety
or to help keep shoe/dog feet dirt out?

If it makes you nervous, I think carpeting would be worst when wet. I just used some of the anti-skid stripes available almost any retail big box store. Step does not get slippery when wet. Cheap also.

There is no such thing as an original step w/ GMC motorhome. Carpet won't
work with what you have. I would bet that Don is right (Ragusa) and Tom's
idea will work (has worked for me for about 8 years and still there).
