So before our trip I fired up the Onan for its weekly exercise. I heard a horrible clinking noise and went to check on the problem. Found the exhaust bracket was loose to the point of falling off. I tightened up the exhaust bracket, assuming the problem was solved, fired up the generator, and heard an incredible roar. I know Onans are loud, but this was ridiculous. Pulled it back out of its home and immediately saw the problem.
The exhaust had come loose from the manifold. It appears the flange that goes into the manifold simply rotted, rusted, and vibrated apart, probably not helped by the loose bracket. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem? I'm wondering if I should just up and buy a new exhaust for the Onan as otherwise it is running great, but I guess I need to find someone to do the work.
Thanks,

The original exhaust had a flange with a short -- approx 2 inch -- extension. The down pipe was a slip fit at both ends.
You could remove the pieces and have it welded at a muffler shop.

Thanks Dennis. The lower part is still in the exhaust. I'll take the top apart and see if I can find the rest. I don't think there is enough metal left to have it welded back together but maybe they can make me a replacement. I'm going to go over the whole exhaust pretty close and see if it needs to be replaced. That was the info I was looking for so I appreciate it.

Mountain out of a mole hill. Got on the phone with Jim Bounds and he's going to ship me the exhaust adapter/flange/downpipe fitting whatever you want to call it with the gasket. Sometimes the easiest solution is the best. I can't tell you how much I appreciate our suppliers. When I have the exhaust off I'll check the rest of the corroded pipes for problems and see if it is time to replace it all...

The biggest problem with Jim Ks Applied GMC website is he can and does not show everything he stocks or has access to. He also has access to some used stuff. So if you do not find what you want on his site, Give him a telephone call. He probably has or can get what you want.

Ken,
Thanks and your very correct, there is no way we can put up all the parts.
We are an Authorized Service, parts, and sales Dealer for ONAN.
Must have double talked Cummins Onan many years ago.
Oh, if you go to our sight, by double and triple clicking on the pictures,
it comes out larger.
