David,
It looks like a great deal, but too much throttle opening can work against
you.
If you turn 4,000 rpm , then you'll benefit from a set up like that.

Hello Jim;
I wonder if you could just get the two centre chambers of the carbs to work.
Like an ordinary four barrel.

Jim,

Hmmmmmm I've noted on the occasions when I've been around you STILL do crazy things!

You opened the door, I walked through! ;-)

Come to think of it I reckon we ALL did crazy things when we were young and frankly I'll bet there's LOTS of people who think we're
still crazy trying to use 40+ old GMC's to tour!

Then there's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksa4VjKE3RY

I hope before you spend any money on that manifold that you notice it's for
a PONTIAC 455, a whole different critter than the OLDS 455. They can use
the same valve lifters, but that's about all.

Ah, yes.
I didn't plan on using it, but thank you for pointing that out.

Rob,
I'm still stupid, and age does not help get smarter.
Stupidity seems to follow me around, so I cannot say anything about others.

Most old 426 Hemi's ran like crap as far as drivability. I think the main reason was the dual quad setup. They would have made about 20 HP less with a single quad and had way better seat of pants performance and been overall faster. Exceeding the CFM requirements of the engine is s hardware issue you can't really fix by tuning.
