Hi All

Today Microsoft changed the Windows 10 update from "Optional" to "Recommended".

That means Windows 7 computers that have Windows Update set to accept "Recommended updates" will have Windows 10 installed the next
time your computer checks for updates.

To change that setting:
- Click the start button then All Programs
- Select Windows Update - it is towards the top of the window
- On the left panel select Change Settings
- Make sure the check box under "Recommended updates" is cleared.
- Click OK

Good luck

Dave Mumert

The download is all that will happen automatically. The update will still be when you want to do it. It is a large file (multiple gigabytes) which is why people are getting "excited" about it. I have been running windows 10 for a couple of months and find it at least as good as windows 7. My wife converted from windows 8 which I would highly recommend if you on on that.

Hi Armand

That was the case before MS changed the category of the update

I'd say the biggest change with Windows 10 is the new EULA. This is one of the best excerpts:

“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary.”

After all - I'm sure Redmond will only look when they REALLY have to and they won't show your data to anybody they don't trust…

Two of our Windoze 7 computers are incapable of accepting Windoze 10.
My Acer Aspire One did accept the update to 10. My Windoze Vista can't
be updated either!

10 and Edge are definitely in the P.I.T.A. category!

I downloaded windows 10 and could not believe my complete inability to navigate in the ways I have allways done. I could not make any sence of this junk opperating system so I paid a bunce of money to have windows 7 reinstalled. I also had a digital hard drive installed...much faster now, happy boy.
