I am starting to set up my coach to tow a car. Thinking I need a way to see what's happening back there. Does anyone have a recommendation, or have experience to share? Any other advice about towing a car? I have never towed anything since pulling wagons with a tractor when I was young.

Some quick thoughts, I'm sure others will add to the considerations:
How many monitors do you want end up with in the cockpit? Some RV gps systems will toggle their screen to the rear cam.
Wired or wireless?
Do you want to check out the towd while under way?

Yeh. I lost a front tire on the ratrod toad and didn't know it till someone came up and honked and pointed. Ruined a wheel. Now I have a mental picture of what the Mousetoad roofline should look like in the mirror... I set it so it's parallel to the mirror bottom. If I look up and it isn't (hasn't happened) I'll stop and go see why. I kick and shake everything at each stop to make sure it's still there. At some point I'll get a camera. In my 23', I can see the toad out the back window. In a 26', I expect the camera would be a requirement. If you have a lightweight toad, again in a 23', the coach brakes are sufficient. Anything over about 2500 pounds, I'd add one of the braking systems available. Backing more than about 5 feet is a no-no. I've towed a Kia Soul, VW Jetta ('92) and a hotrod Ranger pickup without problems. I don't have a problem hooking a cheap towbar up on the level. If you want an easier way, several manufacturers have tow systems where you only need to get close to hook to the coach. You pay (handsomely) for the privilege. Be sure the hitch connects to the coach frame, not just the bumper.

For a long list of rear view cameras, and many other interesting things electronic in nature, go to Web Site www.banggood.com . Chinese site with an amazing selection. Disclaimer, I have not ordered anything from them, but will after return from Lazy Days. Their LED selection is very interesting.

They have wired cams down to $12 a whack if you cobble up the mounting. I'm minded to get a couple of them and mount them on my mirrors looking back.
When it rains, the windshield is so streaked you can't see the mirrors well.

I'm not sure I can add much to this discussion, but I did install a rear view camera in my coach. It is "Yada" that my kids got me for my birthday last year (from Costco) Not sure if I would recommend this particular system, I had trouble with the first one (water got in the lens), the replacement would only work for five seconds at a time, and I wasn't impressed with their customer service to correct this issue. They DID finally take care of me by sending me a replacement camera which I just installed a few weeks ago.
I don't know how much of an advantage it is for keeping track of the towed. I haven't used the camera enough to form an opinion yet. I think it is more important to be observant of the towd's attitude in the rearview mirror, as Johnny suggested, or to have a TPMS monitoring system (which I do not have).

As far as other towing advice is concerned: Mainly be aware that the towd is back there and take turns accordingly. Be aware of the extra stress on the drivetrain of the coach and set up the coach accordingly (transmission cooler, lower ratio final drive, heavy duty hitch, reaction arm brakes, etc.). Pay close attention to things like having the towd in the proper gear (neutral in some vehicles, park with transfer case in neutral in some, etc.). A towd brake system is a good idea and is required in most states for vehicles over a certain weight.
That's about all I can think of.

>towd
Mostly, it's for monitoring a tire failure on the towd. Several here have reported incidents like Johnny's. Also, it might help when turning sharply into a driveway, at least one member here has reported dragging their towd through a ditch and tearing off the bumper shrouds.

Thanks to all for the suggestions & ideas. Some things I had not considered. Wireless is attractive because of the ease of installation, but we keep a foil/bubblewrap sunshield in the big rear window and think it won't be good for a wireless signal. Fortunately, pulling wire will not be much of a problem. A Previous Owner ran two pieces of 3/4 tubing from the driver's side panel all the way aft to under the bed of the stretch as part of a burglar alarm install. Most of the alarm system had already been removed or disabled, leaving me with a very nice wire chase from front to back.

There have also been reports here of wireless Coach A receiving Coach B's signal. Bean Station, I think. I imagine that the band for these is pretty narrow.

I'm currently testing wireless cam connection via device-specific wifi pairing. Whatever you have in the cabin for a laptop would act as the monitor. It looks promising, but not ready for prime time.

Keep in mind that even though the video signal may be wireless, the camera and monitor still need power wiring. Depending on how you want to do this it can be relatively easy (connecting to the running lights) to more difficult (running power from a switched source on the dash).

At Bean Station, it was Jim G. His rear camera monitor was getting the video from a stationary rear camera in the coach next to his. Lucky, he did not hit anything. This cross talk is a real problem with all the unlicensed and uncontrolled stuff.

I kind of enjoyed looking out of Gene Dotson's back window at Bean
Station. His parking spot, reserved for the past 20 years or so, is better
situated than ours. :-)

Anyone looked into using an IP camera and using an android tablet for display - with the tablet able to connect to a hotspot and use apps as well; i.e., navigation. I'm guessing a wireless router will need to be involved as well.

No reason why that would not work. Just grab the WiFi signal with the WiFi on the Android the Android. You may have to play with the network settings, to put the signals on the same IP address group.
