I left my 74-75 maintenance manual in an open plastic container under what turned out to be a most serious leak. The rains came, the container filled, and now I have five pounds of mush with little hope of rescue. Anyone have a replacement?

Glenn:

Cinnabar had the maintenance manual teprinted at some point. They (or Applied) may still have some to sell. Unless some one has one to sell of course, get the GMC jacknife memory stick that has all the manuals from bdub or GMCMI Club. Or:Download the manual from bdubs site to put on your smartphone or tablet. It works well for me.

That being said: I still really like having the paper book. It reads better in my opinion.

Just what I would do in the meantime.

John,

We're in lock step on this question!

Glenn,

BIG AW S#!T!

I search eBay for OEM manuals and have noted the following:

The Cinnabar reprints show up quite frequently, the OEM's not so frequently.

The Cinnabar reprints go cheap, the OEM manuals not so.

I have copies of both here in Sydney and the photos in the Cinnabar reprint Suck with a capital "S!"

Rob M.

All you can do is download the one for your year model from Bdub's site and wait for one to show up on ebay (and then get into a bidding war and end up paying at least $70 for one). FWIW, the one you download from Bdub's site is a scan with pictures as bad as the Cinnabar knockoffs.

I am waiting or Rob and Appie to make a better PDF version and beg for one from them.

Glenn:

As I was driving around doing Christmas shopping I thought about your problem. It was freakin cold ,snowing, Slippery and traffic hardly moved so I had time. Hee hee.

When I went to Bowling Green State University, (for my Masters Degree) I would have all my handouts printed at a place called Kinkos (I dont know if they are still around) they were Cheaper than having the printing done at the university. I also had a few copies of my 350 page thesis printed by them at what I thought was a decent price at the time. (Don't remember now) I used to do a lot of printing) Fed Ex and many other places print as well. 10 cents a double sided page would seem good to me now (Ithink) Our commercial photo copier at school used to cost us less than 3 cents per page.

It might be worthwhile to you to investigate having your downloaded PDF file of the service manual printed by them. (Maybe your own Laser printer cost (2 side print) may be worthwhile too. Inkjet is too crazy I think but.... Ask for 3 hole drilled paper to save having to punch your own.

I did the same water trick with a cordless drill last summer. I had to take my mother to hospital and during the 12 hours we were there a storm passed through and drowned the drill and battery that was in a plastic tray. That cost me a battery.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Kinkos was bought out by FedEx.

Local Office Depot now charges .14 per single sided page!

I don't know what FedEx charges.

A,

Yep! I paid over $100 for one of the OEM X-7525 manuals on eBay and almost that much for X-7625, I lost the bidding for X-7725 at
$85.00.

The X-7525 and X-7625 I will be sending to Peer are in Houston, I will enlist the help of John Sharpe to get them to him, however, I
doubt very much that will happen until well into January.

When they are done they will be provided to any and every GMC clubs to put on their websites for downloading.

Rob M.

If you have a contact at FMCA you should tell them to update their site as it still shows Office Depot and the 2-1:2 cent copy cost

Hopefully Staples can have the same printing cost. At 2.5cents a 815 page service manual can be had fir less than 30.00 including outside window binders, dividers, and page lifters. You can even include a color print of your coach to put in the outside window of each binder. Cool!!! (Individual book printing is what companies like zerox is really getting into.)

I just read the staples site and I don't like that you need a credit card registered with them to be eligible to get discounts. Too many stores are getting computer breaches if their databases. (The credit card info is just not needed) but that is another discussion! !!

I quick search showed that inkjet printing can run up to about 10 cents a page for black and white, including paper cost. It can be half that as well. So if push comes to shove, you can print your own for about the cost to buy one off ebay.

If there were electronic versions out there with decent illustrations, instead of the photocopy looking ones, printing your own could be viable.

Staples, Office Depot and Officemax are all the same company now. Perhaps a
new agreement is needed for that discount.

John Heslinga has noted that you have to provide your credit card info
to Staples for this.

As I have suffered three credit card info hacks in the past 2 years and
had to go through the nightmare of changing multiple auto-pay accounts
to a new card, I will NOT sign up for this!
