We are lucky enough to have both Harbor Freight and Northern Tool in my area. I much prefer the Northern Tool, but either works for the light use item.

Larry,

That's not the one I have.

As I understand it the probe on the end of that camera is too large to fit in a spark plug hole.

I did a search for "Inspection Camera" and the model I have did not come up.

It has an end that is much smaller and will fit in a spark plug hole.

I am agreement with Rob on the $90 dollar camera’s versers the $180 camera’s. The less expensive camera's the lens on the end of the flex portion is too big to fit into the spark plug hole on the one that I first got. I was going to go into a Olds 455 to see the internal damage and look at the valves. That is from personal experience and I had to take it back and get the higher priced camera. The higher priced unit has a smaller lens assembly and even has some attachments that will also fit thru the spark plug hole. I know from reading the specs the lens assemblies are listed as the same size, but in real life the less expensive was considerably larger and would not fit thru the spark plug hole. Your experience may vary!

I bought one of the cheaper ones on sale in September for $69.99. Had no issue getting it into spark plug holes. My lens does look much narrower than shown in the current picture, and has a very small rectangular LED light. They likely have multiple suppliers and variation in lens design.

Jeff,

Please advise the item number for your camera and if it has a mirror that attach to the lens which allow you to see the valves once
the camera is in the spark plug hole?

I'll get the model number tonight. It did include the mirror, and I believe the hook and magnet also. I'll get a pic of the lens as well.

Rob,

I checked the current advertisement on line and found on page 8
that both models are listed. The standard model for $90 has a 2.4 inch
lcd screen and the better model for $ 180 has a 3.5 inch screen.

Models 61838 and 60695 are the ones listed for $ 180.

Has anyone ever seen the 'deluxe' model on sale?

larry

If you have a laptop maybe one of these borescopes would work, cost from 9.99 up, http://www.banggood.com/search/borescope-endoscope.html
also check out their back up camera systems.

Some of the things you don't buy at Harbor Freight: pacemakers, defibrillators and parachutes. Smile
