I have to raise/install the driver's side seat an inch and a half above the generator compartment to clear the wheel well and I have to raise the passenger side the same amount.
How high was the original step in a Palm Beach rear dinette?

That's totally different from the Palm Beach. It's only a 2" rise in the
floor. There is no step. My oem seats are in the storage shed so I can't
get you that measurement. Just use your best judgement. Like you, I'd
probably shoot for the same as any kitchen chair.
