We are getting one installed. Anyone had experience or thought about with
this they would share?

Have talked to some with SOB's that have your combination that say that it will take
most of the day to just wash the bed sheets. They say it's not worth the trouble and
expense. ..... easier to just use the campground machines or use a commercial laundry.

We have one in our Discovery pusher. The washer is OK although very small. The dryer is nearly useless. Takes a long time, and clothes are still damp. We might use it for underwear and such but I can't imagine doing more than one sheet at a time.

Installing one in a GMC uses a lot of pretty valuable and scarce square feet.

Nancy,

Our last SOB (a '97 Safari 40' diesel pusher) had a Splendide (IIRC)
washer/dryer combination. Jim's correct about their being SLOW. For some
reason, perhaps the possible absence of 240vac, they do not use heat for
drying. Instead, they use some condensation form of moisture extraction
which flushes the removed water down the drain -- NOT blown out an external
vent as humid air.

Curious, I Googled a "how does it do that" question and found this:

http://www.splendide.com/splendide_vented_or_ventless.htm

So, they DO offer externally vented models. I wouldn't consider anything
else.

Frankly, IMHO, it's not worth the space in a volume-constrained vehicle
like every GMC. The immediate availability is not very important for short
trips; for longer ones, or full time, the space it occupies will be
severely missed.

JMHO,

Ken H.

Nancy,

Here's how they work: http://knowhow.com/article.dhtml?articleReference=3345

If I understand the process correctly the temperature of the cool air drawn externally that passes over the condenser could effect
how dry the clothes get.

I have found that using RV park washrooms is a good place to meet some
really nice people. Most washrooms are nice and clean. We have been on
the road as much as five months at a time. Works for me.

Wouldn't want to take up valuable space in the GMC. Also, sometimes you
may want a break away from the coach.

So basically, this is what you are accomplishing:

Transferring the water to your personal breathing air...OK in the house in the winter, but the interior of the motorhome?

Think of using a laundromat another way;
I have a friend with perfectly good washer and dryer at home. He is a short drive from a laundromat (maybe 2 miles). He always takes his wash out to the laundromat because "I can do 4 loads simultaneously....in an hour I'm done for 2 weeks. It takes all day to run everything through my machines." Some people have different value on their time.

Chris,

Last couple of trips to the USA we'd take our laundry to a Laundromat in Huffman, TX, put it in the machines with the cleaning
agents and left. The lady that ran it would take it out of the washing machine, put it in the dryer, and fold it when done for twice
nothing. The big bonus was that she could fold the PITA fitted sheets FLAT!

PS - You related to J. Geils?

We have one in our SOB. It only washes a pair of jeans and maybe a shirt. Takes a long time. Uses LOTS of water, and can only run if the generator is running or connected to a 50amp service. On the other hand, Diana loves it...
