Like to find a gasket material to make a rubberized gasket. Then what's the advantage of pop rivets, or SS screws?

Bob,

About pop rivets or SS Screws:
Pop rivets are not good for anyplace you may need to work on or seal/re-seal. If you know you will never have to work on it again, they are OK.
Use screws anyplace you might need to tighten up later - like it has a gasket - or remove to replace the sealant.

Rubber gasket material can be had at a local real plumbing supply, McMaster Carr or Grainger.
Be aware that there are three types and all are different.
Foam gasket is usually neophrene and good for low temperatures and pressures.
Solid rubber is alright if it is between good flanges.
Solid can be had with a fabric reinforcement and can be used places that a solid rubber might get pushed out. It is harder to cut, but more dimensionaly stable.
The solid sheets can be had in both high (about boiling water) and low temperature materials.

Good Luck Bob,

Matt
