I've a seeping J.R. Slaten cooler line in which I >didn't< put copper washers. J.R. is currently out of service for suspension repair (new hip). I don't know what size the copper seals ought to be, Amazon and Ebay have lots available. Anybody, what size for the radiator end of the hoses?
Thanks,
Johnny

I sent Slaten the note >before< I realized he was in hospital having a suspension upgrade, so I got a set from W.W. Grainger. their part is 5WRW4. This gets you ten of them, made by Parker. After looking, I went ahard and bought ten of the 5WRW0 through 5WRW5, which gets them for 3/16" flare up through 5/8th. I can do brake lines, fuel lines, whatever. About 50 scoots for the 60 flare washers. Leaks are sealed now.

Didn't remember, they prolly don't have Grainger Down Under. Use www.grainger.com and plug the part number in the search bar.

I've a set of those as well, but after talking to the guy at Lanier Hydraulics, I went for the flare washers. His outlook was, they might work on a flare fitting, but aren't intended for one. They will seal it on the edge instead of across the flared angle.

Johnny,
If you took both the washers and seals to a Rockwell machine and tested the hardness I'll bet dollars to donuts that the seals will
be softer.
I agree with your "guy."
When I was building ground support test stands down at the JSC in Houston here's the seals I used to use:
