Does anyone know how to get hold of David? He has about 12 GMC's and
operates a GMC rental called Black Rock Desert RV Rental near Reno NV for
the Burning Man.
He got my name and number from The Black List and called from New Mexico on
Aug 20 needing help. He was travelling with two GMCs and was having trouble
with one. He left one here for what was to be two weeks and now it is two
months. I have tried to contact him many many times by email and
telephone messages without any response. I need to get it removed.

David sent out a call last year when he needed help and I met him late at night with two front brake hoses -- he left me with a promise to have them replaced.
After several attempts to contact him, he did leave one voice mail --
Still no replacement parts --- reading his customer reviews on Yelp is eye opening.
You will likely have better luck than I as you are holding an asset.

Dennis

The reviews aren't doing Mr. Gourdine or the GMC motor home a lot of good. But it's about what I expected when he's been picking these junkers up all over. We all know how much work goes into these coaches. Is it really feasible to have a fleet of junkers and actually have the things people are paying for work when they want it to? Heck with all the time and maintenance I put into mine, it's still touch and go sometimes when I fire up the Onan and I've spent hours and dollars on that bad boy well in excess of what a Honda would have cost me in the beginning. I've also replaced just about every house system. Do we really think Mr. Gourdine has done that on all his coaches?

I'm not at all shocked people are renting these coaches and things don't work or barely work. Not an excuse for the owner to be ducking his responsibility however.

The list admin needs to know about these "infractions". We want to help,
but not be overly taken advantage of.

Be sure to let the list know if you feel this has happened to you at
www.bdub.net/Black_List/

I have an inquiry to David in process.

And the big disservice also to the Blacklist -- calling for help and then failing to follow through with his commitments to those who came to his aid.

Thanks Kimberlea,
I have left more email messages for Dave Gourdine and his telephone box is
full so no contact.
I have given him notice by email that I have to have it removed before
Monday Nov 3. I hope he is OK but no contact since Aug 20.
I don't get many calls for help from the Black list but with this
experience I will have to consider every request very seriously.
Any help you can get for me would be appreciated.

In my state that would be considered an abandoned vehicle on private property. You can call the state police and someone will stop by and put a big orange sticker on the windshield warning it is scheduled to be towed. A few days later a tow truck will show up and tow it away. If you want to keep the vehicle, you fill out a form with the state and they will put if up for auction. You get to claim your accumulated storage fees for your bid and will probably be the only bidder. If someone else tops your bid, then they pay you the storage fees an tow it away. If you win, the state will issue you a new / clean title and it is yours.

Good luck

Never met the gent, but let's not barbecue him totally until it's determined he hasn't dropped dead or broken a leg or something. His major rental was a couple opf months ago (End of August) surely he's recovered from that.

Johnny we aren't the only ones roasting him. If you look around online there are a lot of people unhappy with his business. There is a whole facebook page set up collecting complaints that his business is a scam and that he never showed up with what people had reserved or responded to their pleas. That leaves out the people trying to collect money from him for various reasons that are posting online.

I think this might be a case of someone getting a little publicity (a widespread article on Burning Man accommodations) and having a business explode that couldn't be kept up. If he was dragging junkers back in July and August that were going to be rented for use a few days or weeks later, I can see how it went bad in a hurry. These old machines just aren't that consistent without a lot of love and attention, and he wasn't buying units that had seen a lot of love and attention recently.

I hope he's well and gets things sorted away, but right now he is getting lambasted a lot worse by people who attempted to use his business than he is getting from us for not keeping up with his obligations to people on the blacklist.

over the past few years, I have seen posts from GMC'ers that have helped out Dave and things went well. I have also seen some posts where Dave had gone out of his way to help others as well and pay back to the community. A few years ago, he was a good source to use the GMC community shipping channels.

But I can't imagine keeping on top of over a dozen(17 on his website), GMC motorhomes. Either way, he should call. Have you tried TXTing? I had a few Txt conversations with him in the past. I know it is a stupid way to communicate, but some people just respond to emails easier then phone calls and some respond to txt messages.

I have been in contact with DG a few times over the 'years' that he has been in business. In the beginning he was very helpful in getting the TZE info to me for the Registry, numbers, PO's, etc. In the last note from him, he said he would get me all of the missing units info. That was over a year ago. I do have 11 of the 17 units he lists on his web site. But I have tried to contact him over the last few months, unsuccessfully. I hope he can get the act together - it seems like it would be a profitable venture.

I Agree with Johnny. Give him a chance to surface. You never know what may have happened. He always seemed honest and ready to talk/help.

He is in the RV rental business renting old rigs. Sure, they are prone to issues, but then you gotta look at the other side. People who rent rv's for burning man may also be to blame for some of their issues. People go into an RV and expect everything to work the same way as a house. If you have ever looked at a rental RV from the big guys, you will see that they are designed and built to be customer proof.
