Alex Ferrara said my steering
gearbox was off by 45*. He snapped his little bars with magnets on there
and it was evident. (Ken Henderson agreed with the angle) He took it all
apart right there in the parking lot. Cleaned everything up, replaced my
Mobile 1 grease with Valvoline Syntech, reclocked the gearbox, and
reinstalled everything. We took it for a test drive and it was evident even
before we got out of the oversized parking lot that it was much easier to
steer. Magic that only took an hour and a half to accomplish!
Alex is THE MAN when it comes to making our GMCs steer like they should!
Sweet Pea is the 65th GMC to be corrected by Alex. He's on a crusade to
make them all steer like a Cadillac.

Dolph,
Yes, I put one together and sent it to Steve Southwood to validate. Unfortunately for some reason it didn't work the same as it did
on Peter Bailey's GMC's (one LHD one RHD) therefore I did not publish it. He followed my procedure but the relief in the flange on
top of the lower steering column's CV joint didn't wind up in the same place as it did on either of Peter's GMC's.
I was going to validate it myself on Double Trouble when I was back in the USA earlier this year, however, I ran out of time and
it's still on my round toit list.
It would be irresponsible to publish this procedure until I get to the bottom of why it didn't work on Steve's GMC. I was going to
work with him, Alex, and Dave at the GMCMI Convention to figger out what happened. I have checked a couple of other lower steering
columns and they are the same as the one's in Peter's GMC's.
Bottom line:
1) the procedure is incorrect or unclear
2) there are differences in the lower steering column parts
Unfortunately with Helen's health issues I don't know when I'll get back to the USA to work this issue. I can't use The Blue Streak
to investigate the problem because it uses a steering box out of a Cadillac mounted in a way on the opposite side of the frame at a
completely different angle.

Rob M.
