Well, I give up on trying to find it. Perhaps somebody using the forum can find it. I use email only and apparently have deleted it that message. It was a message which had a URL which had at least 100 photos of all sorts of RVs, GMC and otherwise. A search of the forum using the subject "photos" or even "Birds of a feather" might be able to locate it.

Thanks, Wally!

Those are the same URL, but they ARE the same pic to which I was referring. The pic I saw was embedded with a lot of others and didn't show up that big when selected!

I would LOVE to have a coach with that rear entry door. To me, single entry/exit point is just a bit scary, especially with the history of coach fires! That is a prime reason that the 30' travel trailer that I chose has TWO doors!

The rear window is your escape hatch. Look for the wire pull ring on the interior of the gasket.
Do not understand the "history of fires" with the GMC coach. Over the past 7 years, I have only read of two, hardly enough to make a history out of 12,600+ coaches.
Yes, you need to get the heck out of the coach if it starts to burn, but carry a good fire extinguisher and run like as fast as you can. You can easily get another GMC.

G'day,

Quite frankly I am of the opinion that if a GMC owner reads the Fire Prevention Document WE all put together and incorporates all
the suggestions they will reduce the chances of a fire so low they shouldn't loose any sleep over it.

One guy who recently parted out a GMC pulled the wire ring on the rear window. The ring simply came loose by itself. Which suggests to me that it did not work as designed. How does one know if that 40 yr old ring will work in an emergency?

Pray?
I would expect that the wire which the ring pulled to cut the gasket has rusted out, after all, it is 40 years old.
A small sledge hammer might be a good addition to the rear area of the coach.

I was thinking after I emptied the big fire extinguisher I could use it to knock out the window.

As I recall, "Rock My RV" had an episode with a Canyonlands being turned into a food truck. The show's host (former rocker Bret Michaels) had no trouble kicking out one of the side windows. It was a sad thing to see a good window trashed when it could have been easily removed and recycled, but I'm guessing that most of us - particularly when seriously adrenalized by a fire in the coach - could probably do the same.

At the same time, I'm not going to lose sleep over this - it's hard to imagine a scenario where we'd be stuck inside the coach and still alive / conscious during a fire big enough to block our exit out the side door. For that area to be engulfed would require the fire burning from the engine back, or the generator forward... doesn't seem like there would be enough oxygen inside the coach to keep a couple people alive AND supply a fire of that magnitude. That's not saying anything against fire suppression systems, but just that a second exit sounds like a solution in search of a problem.
