Need to confirm - the main tank is the rear tank, and the Aux is the middle?

Also, stock valve was power on for aux?

Thanks.

Dolph,

Yes to both questions.

However, I suggest you have someone throw the MAIN / AUX switch while you have your hand on the selector valve. Someone installed
that switch upside down in Double Trouble. When MAIN was selected the AUX valve was powered. This caused the selector valve to burn
out which in turn caused the instruments to shut down as the circuit that powers the instruments powers the Main / Aux selector.

To add insult to injury you can't just take the plug off the back of the switch it only goes on one way so to fix this the dash has
to be disassembled!

Rob M.

I reversed my Main and Aux tank last time I replaced my fuel selector valve.

My reasoning being I had stalled out several times with 1/2 tanks of fuel while going down hill and braking. Due to the positioning of the fuel filler ports on the tanks, braking or going down hill causes fuel to flow from the rear (main) to the front (aux)tank. Braking while going down hill increases the rate of tank transfer. Nothing worse than a stalling engine on a steep down-grade with a stop light or sign at the bottom.

Now I run on the forward tank as main and this doesn't happen.

I know, I could have just ran with the switch in the Aux position, but I just like to mess with the minds of future owners.

If you run with fuel in your tanks instead of fumes, you will never worry
about what is an operator caused error problem.

build a check valve or flapper to stop the flow from the rear to the front tank

Jim,
I always refill my tanks before they get below 1/2. That's about 4 hrs driving, my but is sore and a need a lil' boys room break.

This happened last week to one of our club members coming down the hill into Watkins Glen NY (carb engine).

Gene, I fail to see how connecting the tanks together through the drain holes fixes the fuel flowing into the front tank when going down hill or braking. I'll refer you to your own page on fuel tanks.

http://gmcmotorhome.info/tank.html

I do see it as something waiting to get hit by road debris.

Nelson, building and installing a check valve sounds like alot of work and complication.

Because I have fuel injection, I used a motorized selector valve. To put it back, I just need to reverse two wire connections. E-Z as pie.
