I am still on the fence about going to the GMCMI rally in Rapid City next month. The trip there and back would be over 2,500 miles and at least 2 weeks time for me. I am wondering how many on this list are planning on going?

We are going to the GMCWS and the GMCMI rallies and it is just over 2500 miles and 3 weeks for us. That is pretty awesome country out there and well worth seeing not to mention the value of the GMC content - people and knowledge. Go for it.

Ken Henderson and I are coming out together in his coach. The girls weren't interested in a 3 week trip. We're going to GMCWC in Pueblo and then on to Rapid City.

If we could get away from work for that long, I would do what Armand is doing in a heartbeat. I have always especially enjoyed the GMCMI conventions and look forward to the day we can attend more of both.

We're planning on Pueblo and Rapid City. I figure close to 4,000 miles plus side-trips. Probably close to three weeks. Having granddaughters in Denver makes it an easier decision.

Richard,

Kerry P & I will expect to see you at Pueblo AND Rapid City.

IF this Rhine River boat don't sink (and maybe even then since the boat's
27' high and the water 9' deep).

We also have GMCWS and GMCMI in out plan.
We also plan to visit a classmate of Mary's that has a ranch (a real ranch) in SD went on the back haul and what ever else strikes our fancy at the time. Planning is ongoing and may not be complete until we get to Pueblo. There is just too much to see on an excursion this long and I learn about something new regularly.

Rob, I'm not Ken, but I went to Mulhouse with him. Slackjawed, gobsmacked,
amazed. More unrestored original examples of Bugatti and every other
European mfg. except BMW there. Himmler's big Mercedes is really impressive
as are the formula cars. The Veyron Bugatti looks like a spacecraft. Hard
to see it all at one sitting. Huge place. Wish you could have been here as
well. Just got an email from Sharon Jacobson. Dwayne is home, off oxygen,
will resume chemotherapy Friday. Little steps make a long journey, but
they eventually will get you there. Hope Helen is responding well to her
treatments.

I live in Rapid City and this will be my first convention. I look forward to meeting everybody. If there is anything I can do (or any questions I can answer) for anybody before your arrival, just let me know. The trip is only going to be about 12 miles for me (round trip). Hopefully I can make it with no breakdowns. The weather is generally very nice that time of the year, so there shouldn't be much need for A/C or furnaces running. If we get lucky we may even see some autumn color changes starting up in the hills. Safe travels to all.

It appears that time and distance do not bother many of you intrepid GMCERs.

I had not considered going to Pueblo. I suppose there is a possibility I could go, but to add Pueblo to the itinerary would be at least another $1,000 and week of time. I would be alone as usual, since SHE has other things on her mind to do in late September and early October. And then there are the season tickets we have at that school in Ann Arbor. I would be missing 2 home games instead of just one.

I really need to figure out a way to retire completely.

FANTASTIC!

The only downside was your absence.

LOTS of Bugatti's, Peugeots, Renault's, Panhards, Hispano-Suisas, Fiats,
Simcas, Rolls-Royce, and names no one ever heard before. A few M-B, a
couple of Porsches, hardly any other German.

Thanks for setting that up for us.

Ken,

Sounds like it was as good as (if not better than) the Micro Car Museum you and I visited just before it shut down and the cars got
sold!

It also sounds like it has been expanded greatly since I saw it as the Schlumpf Brothers Museum back in the 1900's.

BTW if anyone is heading for Europe I have visited a number of other great car museums such as the Mercedes Museum, the Porsche
Museum, Jaguar Museum, British Auto Museum, and British Motorcycle Museum.

Regards,
Rob M.
