A thing that shocked me was when I found out that there were TWO Different kinds of "Square Hole" Drills.
I'm not talking about a morticing set used in wood working that is an auger inside a square chisel. (Google it, if you don't know, and you can find it.)
There is one type that is a drill with three straight flutes. Did you ever notice that a two flute drill can make a triangular hole?
Same game plus one, but the drill is turned buy a loose linkage so it can move. They sound like a mistake.
The other type has moveable flutes that are controlled by an exterior cam. These sound better, but only work well on thin material.
Water, wire EDM and laser cutting have made both of these obsolete. Just as well.
