I think I found out while changing mine:

36 screws. The po must have done some high speed driving....

The fantastic fan was disintegrating on the inside, but it still worked and did not leak...go figure with 36 screw holes... Laughing

Your PO beat my PO by 8 - but my PO did it on both, the front and the rear

Joe,

Here's a You Tube video on how to install a Fantastic Vent, note the number of screws that are in it from the factory. Your PO
probably had some leakage hence the extra screws.

You can see a good shot of the holes at 6:30 minutes into the video.

So we're the fantastic fans sold as an upgrade insert? I did not think they were old enough to be oem.

From what I've seen, Mistress was refurbed in about 97. Bilsteins, interior mods...an expensive fan upgrade would not be a stretch, though the plastic is in worse shape than the oem stuff. The plasticizers have packed up and gone.

I just thought the sheer number was so ridiculously over the top I had to share.

The replacement is "getting by" with only 17. Surprisingly, only the corner holes were re-usable. I had to put another 13 holes in the roof to mount the new one. Thank God for butyl tape and sealant...

Joe,

I checked the Parts Book 78Z pages 28-160 - 163 and the OEM roof vents all had a small fan blade. The Fantastic Vent is an
aftermarket item.
