The recomendatioms for oil include Shell Rotella T 15W-40. I went to purchase today at Walmart but is says diesel oil. Is it ok to run diesel oil in our 455 or was I looking at that wrong product?
Also, the Wix filter. I removed a wix 51258 today but others recommend the wix 51049. Is there a difference in the wix filter?
Last. What ZDDP additive should I purchase and how much do I put in per oil change?
Thanks

Looks like no one else is going to answer this.
Mike,
I've been using the Shell Rotella 15W40 as long as I've had my coach. Yes it does say "Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oil" on the label. The PO used Rotella according to my records for over 40,000 miles and I put over 50,000 miles (total of over 90,000) with Rotella. That engine was replaced at ~175,000 miles because I was concerned with excess coolant consumption and a clicking sound. The sound later discovered as being caused by a collapsed lifter. To replace the motor was the right decision based on other factors.
My current engine has a little over 30,000 and has always had Rotella "Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oil". I'm going to keep running Rotella, with 4-5,000 miles between changes and regular oil analysis being done. Maybe I should switch to synthetic?
I have been using the WIX 51258 filters for a few years now. I don't know about the 51049 filter.
As far as ZDDP, I have a roller cam so that is no longer as much a concern for me.

Go back to Walmart. You go the right oil.
My PO started using it when it was new new and I have followed his lead. I have over 100K on my engine and it uses 1 quart per 6000 miles.
