The major benefits that I hear about synthetic oils. Is it can handle more heat. And can be left in for a lot more miles. I have reasons that I don't use it. Am I missing something?BobDunahugh

As recommended by Dick Paterson , who build my engine, I am using full syntetic 10-30. Just changed after 5000 Ml wi 1 year

I am running M1 15-50 and like to change it out at about 5Kmi - just because. Last year, I lost track and ran for 8200. The report came back that there was nothing really wrong with the oil. I might push it farther, but they are also reporting sodium and potassium in the oil that could be an internal coolant leak, so that is my limiter.

I don't go longer intervals with synth. 5 quarts of oil can suspend X amount of combustion byproducts before they are re deposited. Don't see how synth can do that any better than dino. Though the "oil" part remains less altered over time from thermal breakdown, the additive package still gets exhausted. I does give getter protection pulling long grades (heat) I really think that is when you need it and it pays off. Cheaper than an engine.

One advantage of the Synthetic is that it has less tendency to get acidic.
Oil does pick up dirt and other particulates so I run it about twice as
long as reguler.
