John Heslinga is correct. The oil that is bypassed internally in the oil pump goes back into the oil pan intake side of the oil pump. Thus it doesn't really leave the oil pan sump to be used in the engine for oiling any engine parts. So that bypassed oil has no effect on the cooler, or filter. Bob Dunahugh
