just a thought for those installing the 460 ford rear lip seal rather then the old rope seal. i was just setting my replacement crank in place and became aware the lip rides dead center on the serrated part of the crank this wasn't a problem on the old crank as the serration was well worn but this crank was not worn. i had purchased a genuine ford seal from summit but it would have leaked if i didn't notice. Mondello has a double lip seal that will work OK maybe Jim has one too. At any rate you need to use a double lip seal or have the serration milled off the crank if it isn't worn smooth.not a lover of oil leaks.

The machine shop that did my engine polished the crank
so I could use the Ford seal. The serrations aren't rough.

That is the best way but if one doesn't tell the crank rebuilder to polish the seal area they will assume you are using a rope seal and it won't get done. Rather then ship the crank back to the crank shop a $17 double lip seal from Mondello will suffice. Can't remember everything
