Roof top units are a sealed system and do not have ports to allow recharging. Ports have been added to lines to perform a recharge, but reports are that the tap in charging ports are a failure point. Worth a try, but may be a stop gap measure.

If you're handy with an acetylene torch, you can cut the lines and braze in a pair of tees with Schrader valves on them. Available in different pipe diameters from your A/C supply house. We had a lot of Bard wallmounts, and the maintenance guys often brazed in a valve for various reasons - fan cycle, low pressure shutoff on the ones with out heaters, etc. Set of Schraders and a set of gauges, fat city.

Yep. Taps are easy but will always leak. SilPhos [siver solder type] rather than copper braze. You will also need a vac pump.
Oh, and be careful with the capacitors. They bite, and falling off the roof is not recommended.
