Trip report June 18-24, 2015. Blew the third of my 6 almost new Delta Tires on the GMC. AAA didn't show at all and after three hours I called a local tire store. "If I agree to buy 4 tires from you, how long will it be for you to get a service truck out here?" " 'bout fiteen minits" was the reply. I cancelled the call to AAA and sure enough the service truck came on time. He didn't have a wrench to fit the Alcoas, but I did. Went into town and bought 4 new BFG LT range E tires. I didn't even look at the invoice. I didn't want to ruin the rest of the trip. I put one of the Deltas on my spare and gave him the other 2. Probably didn't have 2000 miles on them and 2 years old. Note to self: don't ever buy cheap tires again.
After a couple of nights at Indian Springs State Park (GA) Elise and I moved to Old Federal Campground at Lake Lanier. On the 2nd day there, we came into town to "supervise" my son's move into his new house. He had no moving "help" and got none from me and my degenerative disky back. Luckily he is a man of few possessions...and a patient girlfriend and mother.
On June 23, we were in Atlanta (about 40 miles from our campsite) and my daughter called. She was headed to the hospital, one month early, with a baby on the way. Katherine Leigh Harper was born that evening at 7:30, healthy and happy. This is our 2nd grandchild and to say I'm happy understates the situation.
Yesterday, the 24th, we packed up and headed home. 97 degrees in Atlanta and it took us 6 hours to make a 120 mile trip. Traffic was awful.
Damage to the GMC from the blowout was, luckily, not major.

Stick,
Good move, I would have done one thing additional, asked the tire store for the date code on the tires they were going to install.

Don't worry, Rob. I did check the date code. All out of the same batch about a month old. The Deltas all had a 2013 date (the year I bought them). Just rotten sorry tires. I was happy to walk away from them without more damage. I'll need a "T" skirt and a little fiberglass work and it'll be good to go. No time to stop now. Have trips planned for all but the 2nd weekend in July.

Stick,
I don't run Deltas, probably never will unless forced to by the side of the road. But on their website, here's what they say are their corporate ideals:
Delta Tire has been a trusted brand for over 50 years and has long been recognized as a leading private brand since 1959.
Delta has a long history of building and distributing quality tires you can depend on. We offer a complete line of products including passenger, LT/SUV, ST Trailer, commercial, medium truck, farm, lawn & garden, OTR, industrial and tubes.
We know that retail tire customers want a good value, fair price, reliability and safety. Delta tires, distributed and marketed by TBC Brands, are produced by major American and overseas manufacturers in the same factories, on the same lines, using the same technology as the major brands. They are constantly monitored and tested for quality to meet or beat the same government mandated standards as the major brands.
We support all of our programs with informative point of sale material, attractive signage and superior customer service. At Delta Tire, our goal is to be your complete line supplier, with the products and programs you need and the service and support you deserve.
Maybe you could email them telling them what a wonderful experience you have had with them. I bet you got a decent price on those new tires.
By the way, I certainly don't want the service and support I deserve. I need much better than that!

Back in the 70's Delta was a good tire. Winston tires used to sell them among others.

From what I can understand from doing internet research, Delta and their successor companies have been bought and sold. The big on-line companies don't seem to have a listing for Delta tires as an option. I think they are essentially out of business.
In defense of my tire supplier, I didn't specify a brand. I wanted a fresh DOT date and correct size and E rating. My expectation was that the tires would age out before they wore out.
Well, never again. I checked pressures before I left Americus. This was not operator error. I'll just stay home before I ride on heap-cheap tires again.
A more savvy consumer would have brought the blown tire home (as well as the 2 almost new tires I just left at the dealer - and even paid a disposal fee) and tried to get satisfaction from the company. My damage was not severe, but it is going to cost me to get it fixed AND another almost $800 worth of tires. I just didn't want to mess with it.
And, if they are out of business, you cant get blood out of a turnip.

With all that Spokeshole PR talk you found on the Website I think it would be quite possible to file a claim for the damage the blowout caused. I filed a claim with Firestone several years back after I had multiple tire failures the final one causing major damage to the rear fender on my Ford Van. The tires were factory original equipment and every one of them failed. I was given replacements under warranty and they failed too. Tread separations that would leave a large piece of "road alligator" behind. Firestone sent me a check for the damage with no comment.

First grandchild will be jealous quickly Congrats on the second. As to tires, blood, and turnips - I can dam' sure squeeze the hell out of the turnip and see what I do get. As I've pointed out, I deal with the same store I've been buying from for 30 years, second generation family runs it now. Plus they have another breed of BWDs anyway. They've not steered me wrong, and pick fr date at the warehouse. They see both cars every 5K and rotate for free, keeps the wear even. My criteria is "Gimme some thing that won't leave Paula beside the road" and so far they have. If it costs me a bit over Tire Rack (I don't think it does) so what. He usually has the current WalMart flyer posted and sells for their prices. I rather they were mounted and balanced by some ol' grayheaded poot that's semi-literate but has years of experience mounting and balancing and refitting the wheel than a local kid who put the weights where the machine said and looked up the 'torque stick' on the chart abd mounted them thataway.
