While adjusting my torsion bars yesterday I noticed one of the adjusting nuts was bent. There really doesn't look to be a way to re-enforce them. I had a couple of torsion adjusting nuts and bolts from the parts truck (1993 Chevy 2500) and installed one of them. The nut is slightly narrower than the original and metric thread but it seems to fit. Anyone ever try this?

I got some longer ones from JimK and some regulars from Manny. I am not sure but assumed they were stock.

Hal, the nut likely bent when the pork chop moved upwards so far that it
made contact with the top of the crossmember. If it binds the threads,
replacement is your one option. Never tried to use the 1 ton nut, but if it
locks in the crossmember I think it should be ok. Metric or SAE shouldn't
make a difference here. Might prove difficult for a future owner though.

The one ton nut fits but is pretty close on the ends. I found one of the Revcon nuts and am going to see if I can fit it into the slot. It is bigger than the GMC nut and has a 5/8" bolt vs the 1/2" GMC size.
Hi Jim, not sure if we will make it up north this summer but we are trying to fit it into the schedule. We were hoping to take the GMC but it seems things tend to get in the way. The dash was ordered 3+ weeks ago and as of now MAY be ready to ship next week. I may just leave the generator swap until later in the year as it will be a project in itself.
Thanks for asking, and hope to see you there.
