I assume everyone knows that Jim Hupy makes a set of spacers just for this very purpose. Put on the spacer and many steel wheels will fit right over the 80mm calipers. Call Jim for details. Normal disclosures - no business interest, no compensation, no direct experience as I have alloy wheels on both of our coaches, Jim is a GMC friend, etc. Seems way cheaper and easier than all the jaw flapping over what might and might not work.

Tom,

I did quite a bit of research into this subject a while back and came to the conclusion that I could not state DEFINITIVELY that the
80mm calipers would fit 16 inch steel wheels because of differences in the wheels AND calipers. IIRC the person asking the question
did not live in the USA and I was not going to say they would fit and have them buy the wheels and ship them to wherever they lived
only find out they didn't fit when they got there!

I would suggest you provide LOTS of details as to what wheels you used and where you got them, what calipers you used and where you
got them, what brake pads you used and where you got them and what mods you did to the caliper to make it fit.

BTW what does "Photos at 10" mean?

Regards,
Rob M.

So this is the first I am hearing of this, I put 80mm calipers on with my original wheels. Did I just get lucky?

16.5" wheels clear 80mm calipers. 16" might/might not. Almost cheaper to
run Alcoa wheels or Eagles by the time you goof around with spacers, hub
extenders, buying steel wheels, bead blasting and painting or powder
coating them.
