So as I wrote before the caspro shocks were completely gone. Installed the new KYB no peoblem there
Drove 50 k today
A distinct, but not dramatic change. A more solid feeling, coming out of bents and over speedbumps. Did not have the change to overtake trucks at highwayspeed yet, but expect a more dramatic change there as she was wobling a bit there

Now wondering about rear shocks, no way to realy test them while they are in, but they are caspro 202940 and prob as old as the fronts

Appie,

If the front shocks were gone I would expect the rears not to be in the greatest shape either. Plus if I remember what I've read on
the GMCnet the reputation for those Caspro shocks wasn't the greatest; I would replace the rears with KYB's as well.

However, even if your shocks are new you will still get wobbling when you get passed by a big rig or pass one. No matter what you do
the amount of turbulence around a big rig will affect your GMC some degree.

I am of the opinion that to reduce the "wobbling" you can:

1) install MOOG offset bushings in the rear "leg" of the upper control arms to increase the caster (you'll get around 2°).
2) install a set of Dave Lenzi's offset upper control arms
3) install a 1 ton front end - the location of the lower ball joint allows you to get increased caster

Personal experience with Double Trouble demonstrated that 1) was better that OEM and 2) was better than 1). As my front end is
completely rebuilt on both Double Trouble and The Blue Streak with Dave's upper control arms I won't be installing 3).

Just to add a little note, I will never get the Lenzi upper arm or the 1 ton approved here, but to get rid of some flex in the lower arm install poly bushings, you can get them from Energy suspension or PST, and do the same on the sway bar while you are at it.

Espen,

There is no way that anyone could ever tell you have installed Dave's upper control arms they look EXACTLY like the OEM arms:

I put new shocks on last summer, my old Bilstiens were shot.
It really helps!
It used to bounce kitty corner since it had one front and one rear with a little action left in them, while the others were basically nothing
