As then title indicates, my blower motor operates when the key is in the accessory position. Does not seem right to me. Is this normal? I have never had a GM car that did that. My coach is unmolested and very original. I can't imagine how the blower motor would be getting accessory power vs ignition switched.
Any thoughts?
I may have to run an ignition switched wire. I would like to be able to listen to the radio without the blower on.

That seems odd, I mean, I've never seen a car where I cannot have the radio
on and everything else off, that's basically what the ACC position is for.
Then you have run, start, and off (where the key can come out).
Are the motorhomes that different?

I just looked at the 77/78 wiring diagram. It shows that the radio is not even in the ignition switch circuit, but wired directly to the battery buss. It should turn on with the ignition off.
My 74 works that way too. Even the signal lights will operate without the ignition on.

Also looking at the wiring diagram the fan control is correct in that it is using the accessory side of the switch.
Here is where you can get a copy of the diagrams It will be helpful when you are diagnosing electrical problems with your unit.

On my 77 dash radio works with no key. That's fine as I have a combiner. Fan runs on accy. as well as ign run. Idea is to bring in outsde air to keep monoxide levels diluted. Also positive pressure minimizes holding tank odors on the cabin. Wes did a write up on this topic. I find more accurate than his tire suggestions!

Everyone,
Thanks for the input. It seems that the wiring diagrams confirm that the fan motor is running off the accessory side of the ignition switch, thanks John. That seemed crazy to me until I heard that the radio was wired directly to the battery bus. That would make sense for a motor home so you could listen to the radio without the ignition switch. I like Emery's suggestion to wire the radio to to the house battery. I'll have to think about the best place to grab the house power near the dash, possibly off the boost switch. I believe my wiring to be unmolested at this point. The only custom wiring I have seen so far was a simple power wire for a CB radio.
I just saw John455's post. I understand bringing in fresh air and positive cabin pressure but it still seems strange to me to have anything but radio or other accessories on accessory. Thanks for the input J455.
