Just wondering if anyone has used Rid-X on a regular basis to eliminate / reduce waste build-up and control odors in the black tank? Would it be a suitable alternative to the other black tank additives available at Wal-Mart and Camping World?

We have used Rid-X exclusively since owning our coach (about 8 years). We dump some in once about every year. Once the enzymes get going they do a good job of controlling odor. We have had no problems with odor or build-up. Of course, making sure there are no leaks and the vents are all functioning properly is key to having a good black tank system.

Our experience is about the same as Randy's, perhaps even longer. I put no
chemicals other than Rid-X in the black tank and have NO odor problems.
And my useage is similarly seldom, even though I ofen rinse the tank, with
its built-in sluice, after trips -- there are enough bacteria left to
regenerate protection.
And the Rid-X, unlike the formaldahyde based odor killers, doesn't hurt
anyone's septic system.
