I am using thunderbird. I would to archive about 10 years of the forum emails
What is the best program and format? I want to search by subject and date.

A folder within Thunderbird works great. I regularly use Thunderbird to
find old messages (not necessarily GMC related) and the program is,
imho, fast and good at finding stuff. I have my mails dated back to 1992
all in the system.

I do search the forum with google. A few years ago we lost a lot. I think if you don't keep them yourself you very well may loose them.

because Google is not always availlable, ie. in the middle of nowhere
without internet access, I still have the laptop with all information.
