Tried calling Chuck this evening, the originator of the very nice article on installing three fuel tanks in the GMC Motorhome.

Discovered I had a Michigan area code for Chuck; didn't work of course. Tried a California area code (similar numbers) and got a disconnected phone number. Tried to PM Chuck and couldn't.

Can anyone help put us in touch with Chuck? Is Chuck OK?

Anyone else done the 3 tank installation?

Thanks in advance for any help.

According to a Whitepages search, his number comes up and the area code is 760 for Ridgecrest, Ca.

The Buskirk stretch coaches are also a unique 3 tank setup.

Thanks Len and Mike for your help.

I just got off the phone with Chuck. An online search yielded his number easily with his city to narrow the search. My address book had scrambled his number with a Michigan number.

Also interesting to hear of the other 3 tank coaches; thanks Kerry and JR. If anyone knows of others, we would be interested in knowing of them too.

Regards to all,

John Richardson has 3 tanks installed in his Avion 26' model. Third tank is about 25 gallons. It fits in the blank space in front of the cross member that is in front of the forward OEM tank.

Other than being able to stock up on cheaper gas or avoid being ripped off in expensive areas like Northern IL, what would the reason be? I need to stop every few hours and walk around anyway.

Maybe having enough fuel for the Onan when boondocking...

Yep Kerry, you got that right.

Mostly, three tanks gives range and flexibility.

They reduce fuel anxiety and increase the ability to simply get there through the night or remote areas as well as to find cheap gas or non-alcohol gas as desired.

And longer boon-docking endurance as well. I hadn't thought of that one as we use the generator so sparingly, but it's a good point.

It's nice to only have to fuel once in a long day and you can still buy gas or stop as often as you like.

We just like the idea of having the ability to carry a lot of fuel reserve on board.

Thanks to all that have answered our thread. I will keep a list of the 3 tank coaches reported to us; please keep 'em coming.

We do frequent rolling rallies and travel long distances. Not uncommon for
us to go 600 miles one way to a 49ers or GMCWS rally. We fuel up in the
morning, and drive until we see 1/2 on both fuel gages. 250 miles or so.
We then refuel. I don't like running on fumes. With the shallow tanks the
gmc has, reflection heating of tanks and the fuel in them is a problem that
can be offset just by having a higher volume of fuel in the tanks. Never
have seen the need for the complexity of a 3 tank system, but what ever
works for you is ok with me.
