I got a set from the place recommended earlier this year. They're 29/64ths. Are we splitting hairs here? A 10mm wrench just barely won't go on them.

After you've measured this with your wrench and you think it will work. Check the belt in the pulleys. The belt should not come to the bottom of the pulley. It works by wedging between the legs of the V on the pully. If it can bottom once it is to recommended tension and some wear. Then it's too narrow. If its clear that the belt will not bottom out then you will be fine. Dont forget that pulleys wear too making the legs of the V wider and grooved rather than flat, complicating the situation.
If the belt rides too high in the groove then the fiction surface on the belt is too small and power transfer ability of the belt decreases and it slips. Sholders are worn into the belt and it will refuse to slide down into the V.
