I put one in my Royale about 2 months ago. Love it. Two wires to hook up, and one of them is a ground. Bolt it down, plug in and go. Light weight, virtually silent, and I mean you cannot hear the fan unless you are really listening right next to it. Im still getting used to it actually being On because there is no more BUZZ.
Got mine from Amazon and the charge wizard pendant came with it. Tells you at a glance if its on boost, normal, or storage for the batteries. Supposed to not boil off the batteries like the OEM buzz box.
One of the best upgrades I have done.

I have them on both of my GMCs. One the PO installed and the other was a replacement for the buzz box. Purchased mine directly from Progressive web site and got a deal on a refurbished unit http://progressivedyn.com/hotdeals.html No problems. My buzz box was wired directly to the circuit breaker panel. I installed a regular electrical outlet to plug the Progressive Dynamics into instead to hard wiring to the circuit breaker.
The progressive Dynamics web site warns that some online sellers are offering units that lack a serial number and they, Progressive, will not honor warranties on those units.

This is very good. I've had one in my coach for almost seven years without a single problem. Before I installed the solar charging system, I used to keep the coach plugged in all the time without any adverse effects on the batteries.

I did one a couple of months ago and it is really nice to just keep the coach plugged in. I did a 9260, the 60 amp model. I thought Jim B used the 60. Maybe overkill? Either way it is a nice upgrade.

Our PD9145 is now 9yo, it was installed to try to save the second 4D. The 9245 was not yet available. I added the pendant and smart control about a year later when the damaged 4D was replaced by 2ea GC2s. I have rarely heard the fan. It seems to only run when we are on the APU. When that is the case, who cares about the little fan??
I have a small lemon juice bottle with a snap cap that I keep battery water (retrieved from the shop's dehumidifier) in because it was handy. With the coach on shore power all the time we are not on the road, the house bank is always up (the Trimetric was new last year, I used to read the density with a refractometer) and I replace maybe an half a cup of water in a season. I lose more on the road because the alternator regulator is not as good as the PD.
Also, Remember I have a 23. This makes a special problem. The converter's place was in the rear electric cabinet and that is 20+ feet of SAE (not AWG)#10 to the house bank. If the house bank is really flat, I can only charge at 40+ amps for a few minutes before the differential between the PD's 14.4 and the bank terminal drops the charge rate because I loose about 0.4V in the way. If I went to #2 (not happening, there isn't any place to put it, I would still be loosing 0.2V. So, in the near future, the PD is getting moved to the cab side by the navigator's feet.

Might want to consider the next higher capacity.
There have been times in the evening with lights and fans on when it was
almost over loading.
I had the 45 amp, but moved up to the 60 and have over come that issue,
That is why we feature that model im or catalog , but we sell the 45 also.

Just to give newbies a little history lesson: About 15 years ago, I
installed a "Refurbished' PD9140 to replace a much more expensive unit
which failed out of warranty. After about 4-5 years, one of the output
terminals became unsoldered. I repaired it very easily and mentioned the
fact here. Someone sent a copy of my note to Progressive Dynamics. They
"came unglued"! They contacted me the same day and practically demanded
that I return the repaired unit in exchange for a new, later model, unit so
they could examine the failure (just a cracked solder joint -- verrry
common electronics failure). To overcome my reluctance to be bothered with
it, they contributed a number of Charge Wizards for us to give as door
prizes at rallies.
The point of this is, they DO stand behind their products -- even that
refurbished, long out of warranty, unit. The news of that incident was the
beginning of PD's dominant popularity in the GMC community. Well deserved,
I think.

The fact that PD sells refurbed units and in your case you are happy that PD stood behind your failure is all curious to me. I still think that IOTA is a better product.
