While I was working on the fuel tanks, I was getting ready to replace all the rubber lines so I took off the driver side panel to get to the fill neck. I knew there was a hole on the side of the coach when we bought it, I just thought someone had drilled it for some unknown reason, that is until I saw it from the inside... Big bushy ball of loose fibers, not a drilled hole at all. I checked the side panel and sure enough there is a hole in it as well. Off to the seat and sure enough there is a matching hole in the seat bottom cushion. I might have to do some surgery someday and see if I can recover the bullet.

From the outside.

And the seat.

Makes me wonder what the history is!

Couldn't stand it, I probed the seat and the bullet struck the frame about 1" into the seat so I grabbed some needle nose pliers and dug around in the hole and pulled out 2 fragments. it's copper plated lead so I think it was a .22 cal.

Wow! Somedays I want to empty a clip into mine, especially now since I found a cracked exhaust manifold.

Looks like too big of a hole for a 22. I'd guess some low velocity handgun like .45 or 9mm.

Rednecks having "fun" I would guess.

Railroad auto carriers originally didn't have sides on the railcars and a lot of new cars were shot up.

Few shot cars since the sides panels were installed.

No fun shooting if you can't see the damage...

The hole measures .270 with my calipers so it's smaller than it looks.
