I am pretty sure you can still view the forum and read all the posts without being a forum "member". you just can't post.

Hi Tim
Sorry to hear about your Mom...been there, done that, and it sure isn't
good!
You're getting an excellent coach from a very nice person. There will be
frustrations but you will always be happy with it !
Thanks for the update.
Dan was a personal friend of many of us on here.
Welcome !

Welcome to the cult Tim. This is where the REAL knowledge is. If there is any way you can make it up to the Bean Station rally next weekend, you'd get a chance to meet some of the locals and see a bunch of these wonderful beasts. The GMC Dixielanders are the regional club for your neck of the woods. Details about upcoming events are here: http://www.gmcdixielanders.org/events/ If you are interested in dropping by the Bean Station rally, speak up and someone will get you the details. You don't have to have a coach to attend whether it is for a day or the entire time.
If you want to know more about the guy whose coach you're getting, read through the comments in this thread:

Dan was UNIVERSALLY respected. A fine, fine man.
Sorry to hear about your Mom.

Tim Hart wrote on Thu, 23 April 2015 18:31I have put a substantial down payment and will pay the rest when I pick the GMC up.
I recently lost my Mom and Teri was kind enough to allow we time to settle things.
Tim Hart
Bill added me to the group so I could start to learn.
Tim,
Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.
GMCs are very different than most motorhomes because they are not a "house on a truck", but that is none the less a good description of the maintenance required. If you keep up with the maintenance, your coach can stay reliable and pleasant way to travel. If you have not traveled by motorhome before, you are in for a treat. Many of us run 10K+ miles a year and have to deal with failures like burned out light bulbs.
As you have already may have noticed, this is a very different group most of the rest. It is helpful and giving people. Dan and Teri were two of those and we miss Dan. And are very glad that his coach has found a new and good home. As you have found this group and are now a member, if you have questions, please ask them. Even if you don't all the right labels and terms, ask the question. If you are not joining a thread about the same subject, please start a new thread. You may also get some that are willing to stop by and at least provide experience based assistance. We have many here that have been running these coaches for more than 100k and several (up to 4) decades. If you have a question, do your best to ask it.
When you have a moment, please build a sigfile like you see with our responses. To do this go to Control Panel/Account Settings and scroll down. Include you real name (that way we know who you are when we meet - and you will meet other owners), Some coach specifics (year, version, major mods - so we all know what we are dealing with), and a geographic location (so we know what to expect and if you are in striking range for others to help). Look at the others and get the plan. This is something that is so missing at Facebook.
As said, this is a group like few others. It is so like the watermen of my world that I have taken up welcoming new owners here much as a new owner or vessel would be welcomed there. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth withing her.
Welcome Tim
Matt
