On the Firestone Air Compressor (part # WR1-760-9285) 150 max PSI from Gateway, what is he best way to hook in the positive line, as the OEM has a male outlet and the Firestone is female? picture is here: http://cbabc.com/air/ I've tried local electrician and they want to just cut the old one out and splice it on to the Firestone.... Anyone have a schematic or advice? Also where the best place is to ground.

Best would be to replace both ends with new connectors. Use a very good crimper and make a tight connection. If you have them, Anderson Power Poles is the way that I would go. With The Anderson Power Pole design, you can get some fairly high amperage connectors. It does take a special crimper to make a good connection.
If you have any friends who are Ham Radio nerds, they generally would have both the connectors and the special crimper.

The only way I would do that connection, is to have a dedicated feed, of a minimum 12awg, preferably 10awg, to that compressor via a relay.
In how I did mine, I thought was very easy. I installed a resettable 30 amp fuse on the firewall. fed a line from the hot side of battery off the battery isolator. then ran a wire from that to a relay at the compressor. then I used that coach wire in that picture to trip the relay to power up the compressor.
I usually do not like to add stuff like that off the battery, but clean/good power is good for that compressor.

Mine (ViAir) is fed through a 30 amp fuse from the vehicle positive pole on the firewall through a relay which is activated by the feed which used to power the now dead Firestone compressor. It has worked flawlessly for about a year.

OK let's see if I understand your problem correctly. Your old compressor has a male positive connector and your new compressor has a female connector. There are two simple solutions.
1. Cut the female connector off of the new compressor. Then crimp and solder a new male connector on the new compressor positive wire. You can get get a new connector at Home Depot or probably most auto parts store.
2. Do not cut anything. Build yourself a 1" or 2" adapter out of a piece of 12 ga. wire with and 2 male connectors crimped and soldered on the wire ends. Plug the adapter in to both female connectors and you are done. The also make an adapter that has 2 male connections. Try your local auto parts stores, Home Depot, or Radio Shack.
As far a ground goes. Ground the new compressor to the same place that the old one was connected. If you can not find what you need, send me a PM and I'll make you one and throw it in USPS mail.

I wonder if running 60A through a 30A relay is covered by the "Limited Lifetime Warranty"?
