Orig MC, cap not performing well. Is there a part number for a new cap or gasket. OR does this fall under tough bounce. On the road for weekend and noticed a lot of fluid on the wrong side of MC and poor breaking late last night

Thx

Erich,

The gasket is available as a replacement part from Dorman as part Nr. 42071. They are seldom store stock, but can be ordered.

Thanks Matt, can pick it up tomorrow. Will limp along today in northern MN

Is there a way to find out if a person is a member of this forum. I ask because I met a guy 2 years ago in town that has about 4 gmc rigs. I believe he had a glass company here in Bemidji .... but I lost his card. John I think was his name

As a limo along can't I just carve up some tubing and cover the deteriorated area vs dump fluid

Erich,

For so many reasons that would be a bear to do, and you would have to find some really thin walled tubing.
It would be way easier to find a wrecking yard that you can wander and get one of any of the GM vehicles (most from the late 60s to early 90s)that has a similar reservoir.

Or, if you could get a roofing place to give you a sample of neophrene that they use and cut that close to size.

Good Luck guy

Matt

I found the gasket in the "HELP" section at our local Advanced Auto store. JWIF

I also bought that gasket at a small auto parts store when we were at the GMCMI rally in Wisconsin last year. They are readily available at many auto parts stores.
